Nike Dunk High Michigan (2020)

With the Nike Dunk High Michigan, Nike brought a basketball favourite from the 1980s back to life. One of the seven original Dunk High colours, the Maize and Blue colorway made its debut in 1985 as a part of Nike's College Colors Program, a programme that introduced school-spirited colours to footwear in college basketball.

The Nike Dunk High Michigan maintains the integrity of its first design. The upper is constructed of leather in maize and navy blue, a nod to the University of Michigan Wolverines. This design is summed up in a conventional way by the use of a white midsole, a navy outsole, and Nike branding on the tongue.

Released as a collegiate sneaker, Nike Dunks can now be found on the feet of celebrities and commoners alike. Limited editions like Off White Dunks, from the 2019 collab between Nike and Virgil Abloh’s design label Off-White further cemented Dunks’ place in sneaker folklore.
