how often do you smoke without even realising you did?
a cigarette is rarely just a cigarette. sometimes it’s stress. sometimes pleasure. dopamine. a reward. an identity. sometimes it’s simply something to do with your hands while your head is somewhere else.
but what interested me more was the thought that maybe every cigarette carries an unfinished thought with it.
you light one. reopen that thought. sit with it for a while. maybe understand it, maybe don’t. put the cigarette out and somehow carry the same thought over to the next one.
again and again.
how colourful it gets outside, and how grey it gets inside.
built on linen, the shirt turns that contradiction into something you can wear — cigarettes scattered across the piece, almost like thoughts left burning in different places.
