‘What the Paul’ and What It Means

‘What the Paul’ and What It Means

Nike Skateboarding is out with a whack new shoe that’s worth this read! The Nike SB Dunk Low ‘What the Paul’ is likely different from anything else you’ve seen; it’s colourful, and how...

What the Paul” is a tribute to the legendary skateboarder Paul Rodriguez. The pair is a reinterpretation of the 31 variants of the original “What the Dunk” sneaker made in 2007.

The shoe features an amalgamation of prints from all ten signature shoes that Rodriguez endorsed for Nike.

The nickname, “What The,” refers to a never-seen-before, eclectic mix of design elements. The 2021 colourway is a nostalgic reminder of details from the original 2007 pair, while the surface is a reference to every material, texture, print, and graphic that’s been seen on every shoe, throughout Rodriguez’ run with Nike Skateboarding.

Laden with original signatures from P-Rod’s design, ‘What The Paul’ is a playback of this Nikes collaborative history - an emerging trend in the sneaker biz.

Nike SB first introduced its bold “What The” theme on the SB Dunk Lows in 2007, and features a mismatched design from the brand’s iconic SB Dunk makeups.

The SB Dunk Low “What The” maintains itself as one of the brand’s most sought after kicks, and collects upwards of $25,000 in the secondary marketplace. The Nike SB Dunk Low “What The Paul” was released on May 24 2021 and has been one of the most loved and wanted releases of the year!
